Marisa Hernández participates at the institutional act of Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities on International Women’s Day

Valencia, March 5- Under the slogan “Scientific and innovative leaders fighting against climate change”, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities in collaboration with the Secretary of State for Equality, the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, organize an institutional act on International Women’s Day. Marisa Hernández Latorre, co-founder of the company Ingelia S.L. has been invited to the act to participate and represent Spanish women in the field of science and innovation.

The objective of this act is to make visible the scientific and innovative works led by women in the fight against climate change, and to share and disseminate their visions, achievements, projects and experiences. After the welcome words, in charge of Climate Change Office, Valvanera Ulargui, the Secretary of State for Equality, Soledad Murillo and the Secretary of State for Universities, Research, Development and Innovation, Angeles Heras, a round table entitled “Women and climate change” will take place, and Marisa Hernández will participate along with five women of great professional carrier, high level business and teaching experience.

The table is aimed at sharing and disseminating visions, achievements and experiences of women leaders in scientific and technical applications in the fight against climate change and will be moderated by María Josep Picó, National Award for Environmental Journalism.

The act represents a new professional recognition for Marisa Hernández, industrial engineer, CEO and co-founder of Ingelia, one of the first companies worldwide that has managed to turn biowaste into biochar at industrial scale.

Although the number of women in research, innovation and business is increasing, there are still few women creating innovative companies. For this reason, at the institutional level, it is about addressing the gender gap and recognizing Spanish women who are at the forefront of innovation and entrepreneurship. This will help that Spain and Europe are still competitive and find solutions for social challenges.
