During July and August 2009, Ingelia carried out the start up process of the hydrothermal carbonization of biomass plant. This is the first industrial plant capable of carbonizing biomass, by means of the HTC hydrothermal process.
The plant was designed and constructed by Ingelia, although it is capable of processing almost any type of organic waste, it is currently using vegetable remains (gardening and pruning ) supplied from the surrounding county where the plant is located . The bio-coal produced concentrates the energy power from the biomass origin, obtaining a solid biocombustible with a GCV of approximately 24MJ/kg.
