The construction of an HTC plant with Ingelia technology in the Italian municipality of Chiusi is now a reality. In November 2018, negotiations between Ingelia SL and Acea Ambiente, the leading sludge and wastewater treatment plant manager in Italy, were successfully concluded. The institutional support of the Náquera City Council to the Valencian company Ingelia has led to the mayor of Náquera, Damian Ibañez, offering an official reception today at the council, since it was in this Valencian municipality when Ingelia completed the installation of its first HTC industrial plant in 2010, capable of processing 10,000 tons of organic waste per year at that time.
The reception was attended by the mayor of the Italian municipality, Juri Bettolini, as well as his environmental advisor, Micheletti Andrea and his urban planner Emiliano Fastelli, the CEO of the company Acea Ambiente, Giovanni Vivarelli and his team and Marisa Hernández CEO of Ingelia and Massimo Manobianco, president of Ingelia Italia.
Ibañez, together with the Councillor for Municipal Services, Esther Lébana, and the Councillor for New Technologies, María Dolores Pérez, expressed their satisfaction at hosting a project such as Ingelia in the municipality of Náquera and highlighted the importance of local entities in being able to transfer this business model to the supra-municipal level. According to Ibañez, “Ingelia’s technology provides the solution to the municipality’s pruning waste”.
PLANT IN ITALY
The construction of a hydrothermal carbonisation plant in the municipality of Chiusi is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2020. The 20,000 square metre plant will consist of 8 reactors and will treat 80,000 tonnes of sewage sludge per year. The Acea Group is the leading Italian operator in the sector with approximately 1 million tonnes of waste treated per year. Acea has been active in the waste management business for over 10 years, in particular in the disposal and energy recovery of waste. It confirms itself as one of the main national players and a reference operator for central Italy. Its activities include disposal, waste to energy, composting and biogas, sludge treatment and liquid waste.
In this way, Ingelia maintains its leadership in the HTC sector and is at the forefront with three industrial plants on the market. Ingelia's patented process is capable of producing Biochar (Hydrochar) and liquid fertilizer from any type of wet organic waste, such as the organic fraction of urban waste, sewage sludge, agroforestry waste and waste from the agro-food industry.
