On 7 and 8 January 2020, the event focusing on the Sustainable Industry Challenge took place at the Chemport in Groningen with the aim of connecting industries in the chemical sector with sustainable innovations. Chemport Europe is an ecosystem in the north of the Netherlands where companies are committed to developing a flourishing green chemistry sector. These companies, together with research institutions and the government, are working on a transformation process of the chemical industry. Green chemistry and circular projects are taking off and reshaping the economy. Cooperation between the parties is key. It works well because the ambition to create sustainable chemical production chains and closed cycles is shared.

By 2050, only renewable energy and environmentally friendly raw materials will be used.

Ingelia participated in the green chemistry challenge selected by ESD, during the two days, a great work was done in replacing coke by using hydrochar as a raw material for the chemical industry. A significant additional step achieved by Ingelia in the development of HTC products for the sustainable industry.
