The Clean Energy Innovators’ Journey: Transforming Innovative Ideas into Solutions for Change.
As part of CEM11 (Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting) hosted this year by Saudi Arabia, which took place on September 17, the public event: The Clean Energy Innovators' Journey: Transforming Innovative Ideas into Solutions for Change was organized.
The event aimed to delve deeper into the journey of individual innovators who, through their own efforts and initiatives, bring new clean energy solutions to society, often with the support of public and/or private funding vehicles or non-financial enabling policy frameworks. To harness the potential of innovators and spearhead the clean energy transition, the virtual roundtable, moderated by Mr. Patrick Child, Deputy Director General of the European Commission, highlighted the role of these innovators in accelerating the transition, as well as their insight on new technologies and policies. MI Champions, including Ingelia CEO Marisa Hernandez Latorre, shared Ingelia’s success story, with particular reference to its experience in public R&D programs, philanthropic and investment vehicles. Ms. Kenu Swarup, Vice President of India, and Ms. Ashley Grosh, Director of Gates Ventures, also participated in the roundtable, giving inputs from public and private investment in innovative clean technologies. The session’s findings contributed to the discussion among Mission Innovation directors to shape the next wave of global innovation efforts, in particular through Mission Innovation 2.0.
