As usual since 2011, Ingelia has been selected to give an oral presentation this year at the prestigious 28th European Biomass Conference & Exhibition 2020, which was scheduled to take place in Marseille under the High Patronage of Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic. Economic recovery and climate action policy have been the main priorities and this year the EUBCE has dedicated itself to them.

Martin Hitzl, Director of Operations and Technology Development at Ingelia, presented the solution for Carbon Supply of the Cupola Furnace Industry with Hydrothermally Carbonized Paper Sludge, a Circular Economy Model, publishing the latest developments in the company's ongoing research activities in the improvement of HTC products. The research work has been developed in collaboration with ITQ, Swerim and Herp Gieβereitechnick Gmbh.

During the closing session, Nicolae Scarlat, Chair of the Conference Technical Programme, summarised the key messages of the conference: The European Green Deal and the Recovery Plan represent a great opportunity to recognise a key role of sustainable bioenergy as an essential contributor to achieving the climate goal.

Ensuring sustainable biomass supply and a stable long-term policy framework are necessary to boost investments for bioenergy deployment.

We would like to thank Nicolae Scarlat for specifically mentioning Ingelia and its HTC solution for the valorisation of paper sludge and the application of hydrochar in the steel sector as an example of innovation in bioeconomy during the closing session.

At Ingelia, we have missed a physical conference this year and we are already working to be able to present our next technological developments again in 2021.
