The 2020 edition of European Biotech Week took place from 28 September to 4 October. European Biotech Week celebrates biotechnology, an innovative and dynamic sector launched by the discovery of the DNA molecule in 1953. The first European Biotech Week held in 2013 marked the 60th anniversary of this pivotal moment in history.
On 29 September, EuropaBio, the European Bio-based Industries Association, the largest and most influential biotech industry group in Europe, together with Invest Europe, the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association representing the private equity community across Europe, organised a roundtable to discuss the future of European investments in the biotech sector.
Mr. Rainer Strohmenger from Wellington Partners and Ms. Sandra Ferri from the European Investment Fund, representing the public and private investor ecosystem, discussed the state of biotech investors in Europe, with Mr. Cedric Ververken, CEO of Confo Therapeutics and Ms. Marisa Hernández Latorre, CEO of Ingelia, representing European biotech companies.
Marisa Hernández Latorre focused on industrial investments and the importance of aligning the objectives of companies with investors to develop business in Europe.
